Paris Saint-Germain crowned Ligue 1 champions

The top-ranked PSG have been declared champions after the French Ligue 1, which has been postponed due to a worldwide outbreak of the corona virus (Covid-19), will miss the rest of the season.

A few days ago, the French government stated that Ligue 1 could not be held this season. Before the league was postponed on March 13, PSG was at the top, 12 points behind second-placed Marseille.

Amiens and Toulouse, who were in the last two from League One, have been relegated to League Two.

Similarly, Lorient, who is in the top position in League Two, has become the champion. Along with Lorient, Lens has been promoted from League Two to League One.

Didier Quilot, chief executive of the French League (LFP), said there could be some appeals but the decision was right.

No decision has been made on which team will play in the European League next season.
